SANTOS SWEEP  O-45 GOLDEN LEAGUE FOOTBALL   21.4.2011 – First time entrant Santos, completed the double in the 2010-2011 Golden League Football competition last night when they clipped St Georges Old Boys 1-0 in the Knock Out final at the NWC Playfield in Mona in a close and exciting match.

The leading goal scorer for the Knock Out competition, Gordon Murphy, scored the his fifth and the all important goal in the 20th minute after receiving a defense splitting pass from Alphanso Daley.

Golden League MVP, Gordon Murphy (r) received his award from former KSAMLA president, Arnold McDonald. 

Santos won the Golden League last Thursday at the same venue after clipping Packers 2-1 to finish top of the League with twenty eight (28) points. George Lim and Alphanso Daley scored for Santos, while George Blake got the consolation goal for Packers. Kingston Commissioners finished second with twenty five (25) points. Real Mona were the defending champion.

The Golden League  is played annual between players over the age of forty five (45) years. Santos only lost for the season was a 3-0 shutout to Kingston Commissioners, and they also drew 1-1 with Kush. The champions won their remaining nine (9) matches. 

 Gordon Murphy of Santos was the league's leading goal scorer with 13 goals, while Santos' Nyron Prawl  was the League's most valuable player (MVP).
