BARBICAN AMBUSHED 3-1 BY BROWN'S TOWN 25.10.2011 –Ranked outsiders, Brown's Town, brought the Barbican masters league dynasty to an abrupt end at Winchester Park on Sunday when they humbled the defending JNBS masters league triple champions 3-1. After a series of relentless attacks, Brown's Town took a deserving 1-0 lead in the 19th minute as midfielder Hurbert Allen tapped-in. It got worst for Barbican, as in the 29th minute, Wayne Osborne blasted home from close range to make it 2-0 for the Boyz from East Kingston.
Barbican (white) 1 Brown's Town 3 Denton Shedden scored a marvelous free kick in the 36th minute to reduce the score to 2-1. But minutes later, Franklyn Rose popped-up in the six-yard box to seal the issue with a simple header in the 39th minute to give Brown's Town a hard earned 3-1 win, and a well deserved place in the semi-finals. After a goal-less first half filled with numerous missed chances, especially by Telecom, Delroy Morris gave Telecom Strikers a 1-0 lead in the 46th minute. However, Cavalier took a 2-1 lead courtesy of a Bernard Blackwood brace in the 67th and 73rd minute. Andrew Dixon leveled the score 2-2 in time-added to send the game into extra-time, and Pedro Campbell scored in the 8th minute of extra-time to give Telecom Strikers the 3-2 win and a place in the semi-finals. 2011 JNBS Masters League Ineligible Players (Semi-Finals)
Park Rovers came from behind to score a comfortable 3-1 win over Christian Ambassadors in the opening quarter-final game at Buttercup Park. Last season's JNBS masters league MVP, leading goal scorer, and Rookie of the Year, Phillip Riley, spotted Christian Ambassadors an early 1-0 lead in the 3rd minute of play for a perfect start. However, the Ambassadors' lead was short-lived as three unanswered goals by Park Rovers gave them an easy 3-1 win, and confirmed their second straight appearance in the semi-finals.
Cavalier (black) 2 Telecom Strikers 3 Owen McKay scored twice for the Rovers in the 20th and 56th minute, while Donald Broderick also scored for the winners in the 34th minute. In the Buttercup Park feature game, Constant Spring sent Kingston Commissioners packing with a very convincing 3-1 win. 2011 JNBS Masters FA Cup Leading Goal Scorers
The JNBS masters league semi-final double-header will be held on Sunday, October 30 at Winchester Park. Telecom Strikers clash with Brown's Town in the 3:00 pm opener, while in the 4:30 pm feature game, Constant Spring tackles Park Rovers. After their powerful and emphatic elimination of champions Barbican, Brown's Town should start favorites to beat Telecom Strikers, and advance to their first KSAMLA championship final.
Cavalier (black) 2 Telecom Strikers 3 Meanwhile, the highly fancied and star-studded Constant Spring, already with two titles under their belt this season - the Champion Cup and the Peter Cargill Cup, will be favored to prevail over Park Rovers. The JNBS Masters League championship final is scheduled for Sunday, November 6 at Constant Spring Oval, while the master football season comes to a close on Sunday, November 13, with the JNBS Masters FA Cup championship final between Santos and Constant Spring at Winchester Park. The winner of the FA Cup will gain the first lien on the Delroy Sexious Cup.
